Sign up to be a part of the Orange Team in 2008

We love our volunteers…we simply love them. The Orange Team is the key to pulling off this conference, and we look forward to partnering with each dedicated volunteer that joins us for this challenging role in April. It will be a lot of work – that’s a guarantee – but the fulfillment that comes from serving thousands of people who are usually the ones serving everyone else is unmatched. If you’re interested in serving on the Orange Team in 2008, just follow these simple steps:

1 – Block April 28-30, 2008 on your calendar. The hours will be 7:00 am – 10:00 pm each day (We know – it’s a long day, but WELL worth it).

2 – Read through the Volunteer FAQ’s below. Feel free to email us through the “Contact” link above if you have any questions that aren’t answered below.

Volunteer FAQ's

Q: Can I attend the conference if I volunteer?
A: If you’ve volunteered with us in any capacity before, you already know that our volunteers are always busy. Because we have so many needs at this particular event, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to attend any of the conference. We look forward to having volunteers that show up with a heart that is ready to serve others and do whatever it takes to make their experience great. If you have a desire to attend any of the conference, we recommend registering for the event rather than volunteering so that your heart and attention won’t be divided while you’re at Orange.

Q: I can only volunteer for one or two days instead of the entire event. Can you still use me?
A: More than likely, yes. We are asking all volunteers to give three full days – April 28, 29 and 30, 2008. And those who can commit to the entire event will be given preference.

Q: Can I pick which team I’m assigned to at the event?
A: We are trying something new with our Orange Team for 2008. Because we often have needs that pop up at the last minute, we’re going to assign volunteers to teams when you arrive at the event on April 28. This requires flexibility and a willingness to serve in many locations and capacities. If you have a preference to work on a particular team and we have a need on that team, then we will certainly do our best to accommodate your request, but that won’t happen until the first day of the event.

The only exception to this new policy is if you have been recruited to fill a specific role by one of our staff members or team leaders.

Q: Is there a fee to volunteer?
A: No way! In fact, we wish we could pay you, but we don’t recommend holding out for a paycheck.

Q: Are any of my expenses covered?
A: You are responsible for your own transportation to Atlanta and lodging while in town. We will provide your conference t-shirt(s) and meals on the days that you are serving. More details will be provided about meal times and locations closer to the event.

Q: Is there a designated hotel for volunteers?
A; No. There is a complete listing of hotels under the “Details” link above. We have specially negotiated rates with each of these properties, but they will sell out. We encourage you to book hotel rooms quickly to ensure you get a room.

Q: I have physical limitations that may prevent me from serving in some roles. Can I still volunteer?
A: There is a place on the volunteer application to note any physical limitations that will impact how you can serve with us. Please be sure to include as many details as possible so that we can make sure to assign you to the best role for your needs.

Q: What if I have to cancel as a volunteer?
A: Positive thoughts…you’re not going to cancel! But if you do, please let us know as soon as possible so that we may ensure our needs are met. We are asking for 3 weeks notice for any cancellations from the Orange Team so that we can recruit another individual to join us.
